Dance Program

Curated by Meghan Dunne

Live dance performances - terrifyingly beautiful, wonderfully intimate, and sublimely off-kilter - take place inside Galapagos Art Space between 3pm and 8:30pm. Interspersed with the festival?s theater performances, the dance line up is comprised of some of the NYC area?s most groundbreaking emerging choreographers and artists.

Artists include:

Veronica Carnero
Shanti Carson and Jan Hilmer
Lea Fulton
INSPIRIT (inspiritdance.com)
LeeSaar The Company
T. Lang
Weena Pauly (weenapauly.com)
Sens Production (sensproduction.org)
Layard Thompson
VIA Dance Collaborative (viadance.org)

Witness LeeSaar The Company?s stormy, psychological drama juxtaposed against a stark and strikingly abstract solo by Weena Pauly. The universality of a woman shaken by love (T.Lang?s ?ReClaiming?) and INSPIRIT?s ?Anomaly?, a multi-layered collaboration with filmmaker Jessica Chen Drammeh (anamalythefilm.com) push boundaries of body and thought in physically daring, heart-pounding displays of dance.

Veronica Carnero bursts onto the New York dance scene with the trio ?In Installments,? and fellow NYU alum Lea Fulton offers up a new quartet. Veteran site-based dance artist Noemie Lafrance and her company Sens Production adds her characteristic flair to the line up, and VIA Dance Collaborative contributes a new solo.

Layard Thompson?s ?The Ridge,? a zany, neurotic, stream-of-conscious romp through endless contradictions and a sexy, fire-eating waltz in flaming headdresses by Shanti Carson and Jan Hilmer round out the program.
